Located at 47 Pengkalan Weld in George Town, CHEW JETTY CAFE stands out as a local gem offering an authentic taste of Malaysian cuisine. Diners rave about the duck egg char koay teow, which is praised for its silky noodles and distinct wok hei. Vincent Kwek's enthusiastic endorsement highlights the café's commitment to quality, alongside the delicious wanton mee, although some found it a bit on the sweet side.
Customers appreciate the curry mee and various wantan noodle options, with Cavan Tan noting the unique experience of tasting three types of noodles in one dish. Despite minor service hiccups, the vibrant flavors and authentic dishes ensure a memorable dining experience in the heart of George Town.

Based on 220 reviewsCHEW JETTY CAFE in George Town is widely praised for its authentic local dishes, particularly the duck egg char koay teow and various types of wantan noodles, which many customers find flavorful and well-prepared with notable wok hei. The cafe’s traditional roadside setting adds to its charm, attracting both locals and tourists. Service is generally prompt, though occasional mix-ups have been reported but quickly resolved. Overall, the cafe offers a genuine taste of Penang’s culinary heritage, making it a recommended spot for visitors seeking traditional flavors in a unique, heritage-rich environment.
Damn good duck egg char koay teow - the rice noodles were thin and silky smooth. So much wok hei in the noodles. Wanton mee was okay, a tad sweet for my liking :)
Authentic place for local food even if there are many tourists. The curry Mee and wan than Mee were both nice.
This coffeeshop produces one of the most authentic wan tan noodles I've been searching for. Service is fast (though server serves my order to someone else, but quickly made it up after I checked). Fried kway teow is delicious too and comes with prawns for the reasonable price! A must try I'll say. Coffee/ tea is nice, but not the best.
Nice 3 types wantan noddles in single plate wantan noddles u can taste 3 types of noddles. But waiting time little bit longer and many ppl and visitors to chew jetty will come here enjoy food. Very traditional cafe at road side close by chew jetty. Limited parking ???? can park surrounding street parking lots walk over. Dun parking road side and block the traffic
Situated right in the heart of Georgetown World Heritage Chew Jetty, there's limited spaces in the Kopitiam, trying to come around late morning would give you more place to seat and choose. I say on a sewing machine transformed table, where there's a sewing machine mechanism below the table for paddling purposes. There's also some samples of Japanese money during WW2 too. Just that felt the service wasn't that good where you're required to go to the next table for scanning the QR code for payment instead being handed by the waiter. Overall a good environment
I tried the Char Koay Teow here, fried using charcoal fire, and it was delicious. It came with three prawns and cockles. The Curry Mee impressed with its three versions: red, white with preserved gingers, and green. However, the drinks were too diluted for my taste.
